Review: 2018 Nissan Armada

Comfort and Convenience

Armada trims include the SV, SL, Platinum, and Platinum Reserve. Models with a second-row bench can seat up to eight passengers, while those with captain’s chairs in the rear seat up to seven.

The Armada SV comes standard with heated front seats, a 10-way power driver’s seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, wood-tone trim, and 60/40 split-folding bench seats in the rear rows. The SL trim adds a power liftgate, auto-dimming mirrors, Remote Engine Start, rain-sensing wipers, leather-appointed seats and door trim, and a Memory System for the driver’s seat, mirrors, and steering wheel.

The Platinum model wraps you in luxury, with a power sliding moonroof, heated and cooled front seats, a heated leather steering wheel, heated rear outboard seats, and a Tri-Zone Entertainment System with dual 8-inch monitors, DVD, HDMI input, and set of wireless headphones. The Platinum Reserve adds an exclusive interior with premium two-tone leather-appointed seating and contrast stitching, open-pore wood interior trim, and special edition badging.

Safety and Technology

All trims of the 2018 Armada come equipped with a RearView Monitor and a front and rear sonar system. Additionally, Nissan equipped the SUV with systems to keep you focused on the road, including Nissan Navigation with enhanced voice recognition, hands-free text message assistant, and a Bluetooth hands-free phone system. The SL adds an Intelligent Around View Monitor and fog lights.

The Armada Platinum and Platinum reserve come equipped with Intelligent Cruise control, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Intelligent Lane Intervention, Blind Spot Warning, Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention, Intelligent Back-Up Intervention, and Intelligent Rear View Mirror. Driver assistance features are also available on the SL trim with the Premium Package.

Performance and Towing

The new Armada is equipped with a 5.6-liter V8 engine mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission with Tow/Haul mode, making 390 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque. All trims come available with Intelligent 4X4 with two-speed transfer case.

The Nissan SUV can tow up to 8,500 pounds and all models come standard with a tow hitch receiver, making the Armada ideal for those of you with small trailers or boats to haul. The SL trim also has a 7-pin wiring harness and trailer brake pre-wiring.
